Juno’s Scholarship

Juno was standing high up on the bar in the gymnastic hall. She waved to the people below. There was her mom, Dr Harleen Quinzel Napier, a k a Harley Quinn, her brother Jack Napier Jr, a k a JJ, and her boyfriend Kirk Dennis. Juno was a younger version of Harley Quinn. Her real name was almost the same, Harleen Jr Napier. Juno had never met their dad, Jack Napier, a k a Joker. She was born after his death. JJ had met their dad but he was too young to remember him. Harley had brought the children up by herself, with some help from her friend Poison Ivy and the pet hyenas Lou and Bud. Because Harley a long time was on parole the Happy Family also had contacts with Stupid Dr Leland.

The high school gymnasts were being checked out by the university representatives. Juno wanted to win a gymnastic scholarship for Gotham University, like her mom had. Then she wanted to study psychology. JJ wanted to study chemistry. Juno and Kirk planned to get married before they started university. Kirk was flattered by marrying Joker’s daughter. Harley was planning the wedding.

- She’s really brilliant, said Harley, as she watched Juno begin the gymnastic exercise. I remember when I won my scholarship. She’s an elite class gymnast, just like me. The new Clown Princess of Crime.

The new Clown Prince of Crime agreed. JJ used to his amusement scare people with his appearance. He looked just like Joker, with purple suit, green hair and white face. As handsome as Joker had been, he also had his sense of humor. He wanted to become a great mass murderer himself.

Kirk watched with delight how his beautiful girlfriend was doing gymnastics. She was really a catch, with long bleached hair, big blue eyes and a slender body. Even better, she was Joker’s daughter. Joker was a legend among criminals, and marrying Joker’s daughter really meant an upper hand. It was of course not Kirk’s only reason for marrying Juno. She was a beautiful, talented girl and he loved her a lot. They went through high school together and now they looked forward to starting university together. JJ was an eccentric character. He was in every sense Joker’s son. Harley lived up to her title as Joker’s widow. A tricky, cunning woman who was pulling the strings in the background. She had left the Criminal Kingdom to her children but she still controlled it. JJ and Juno didn’t have as much influence as they thought they had. They could never go against Harley’s willpower. Everything in the Napier family was focused around Joker. His portraits were on the walls. They always talked about revenging on his murderer. Every week they visited Joker’s grave. The Happy Family was Killer Clowns. Kirk had also made friends with the pet hyenas. When Lou and Bud had died JJ pinched two hyena cubs from the zoo, and named them Stan and Ollie.

Juno had finished her gymnastic exercise and rejoined the others. Kirk hugged and kissed her.

- You’re so clever, darling. You’ll win the scholarship. Let’s go to a coffee shop now.

When they left the gymnastic hall, another girl went in.

- My biggest competitor, said Juno and made an ugly face, Tessa Smith. I don’t want her to come to the competition.

- She won’t, darling, assured Kirk. You know our plan.

- Don’t discuss that here, said Harley. Everyone shouldn’t hear that. No witnesses, you know.

- We know, mommy.

- Make your dad proud of you. When you’ve won the scholarship we’ll celebrate and visit daddy’s grave.

At the coffee shop Kirk ordered four cappuccinos and pastries. Luckily they could all eat without putting on weight, and remain just as slender. The waitress hesitated to serve JJ, who gave her his most malicious smile.

- Let’s have fun!

- You’re so much like your dad, said Harley and smiled. That was his style. We had so much fun when we scared people. When mean people didn’t interfere and destroyed everything for us, we had great fun. It was so funny to rob, torture and kill stupid people. Remember that the world is full of stupid people. They’re just waiting for getting used.

It was always interesting when Harley told all the great things about Joker. He had been a master criminal. Among other things he had crippled Bratgirl, killed one Birdboy, killed Commissioner Gordon’s wife, went to business trips to the Middle East and he also sold a bomb and infected most of the people in Gotham with laughing toxin. They all admired him but Joker was especially JJ’s role model. JJ wanted people to fear JJ Napier as much as they had feared Joker. At the university he wanted to become a just as clever chemist as Joker had been.

They had finished their cappuccinos and their pastries. Kirk started to cuddle with Juno.

- Time to go home. See you soon.

Kirk and Juno left the coffee shop.

- He will be shagging her.

- Shut up, JJ!

Kirk and Juno lived together in a apartment which was one of the hideouts. It was not far from Harley’s combined psychiatrist practice and habitation. Unofficially it was the main hideout for the Killer Clowns. JJ stilled lived there. He planned to take over the main hideout after Harley.

Kirk was happy to be home with Juno. He cuddled even more with her and kissed her. Then he started to undress them and the clothes fell to the floor. They were soon in bed, having sex. Juno proved to be just as athletic in these circumstances. It didn’t surprise them that Joker and Harley were said to have had a just as active sex life. They were doing a lot of ha-ha. All the same it took time for Joker to make Harley pregnant. Kirk and Juno also wanted children soon, but Harley had advised them to wait until they started university. Kirk loved to feel the movements of Juno’s slender body when he had entered her. Then they lay beside each other in bed and enjoyed being together.

The gymnastic competition approached, and Juno kept on practicing. And she also kept on planning how to get rid of her competitor. Juno and Kirk then presented their plan to Harley and got her approval.

Tessa Smith found an anonymous, computer written note in her locker. It said that someone wanted to meet her in the dressing room before the gymnastic competition. She didn’t know that Kirk had broken into her locker and left the note, and that Juno had written the note on one of the high school computers.

In the dressing room Tessa Smith, to her surprise, found Juno. They weren’t friends and Tessa Smith sensed that Juno was up to something.

- What did you want to see me about, Juno? And why are you wearing gloves?

- I don’t want to leave any fingerprints when I strangle you. You’re not coming to the competition.

- You’re mad! You’re all mad in your family! I’m leaving.

- No, you’re not.

Tessa Smith headed for the door. She then found out that Juno wasn’t alone. Kirk knocked her down and she fell to the floor. Juno punched Tessa Smith in the face before she had a chance to get up. Kirk locked the door. He was prepared to kill anyone who wanted to enter the room. Then he handed Juno a rope. Juno put the rope around Tessa Smith’s neck and strangled her. When Juno and Kirk knew she was dead they put her body in a locker. They were careful not to leave any clues.

- Time for winning the scholarship, said Juno.

Juno and Kirk went to the gymnastic hall. The competition was about to start and the representatives from Gotham University were gathered. Also a big audience was gathered, as Gotham High School had opened the happening to the public. Juno loved being in the spotlight. In the audience she spotted Harley and JJ. Kirk joined them. They smiled and waved to Juno, who smiled and waved back.

The commentator announced Tessa Smith. When she didn’t come forward she was excluded. Then the commentator continued with announcing Harleen Jr Napier.

Everyone in the audience wasn’t Juno’s supporters. Commissioner Barbara Gordon was there with Dick Grayson. Nightwing was visiting Gotham.

- You know who that is, don’t you? asked Barbara as Juno started doing gymnastics.

- Sure I do, answered Nightwing. She is nicknamed Juno, it’s short for Harleen Jr. It’s Joker’s and Harley Quinn’s daughter. Harley and their son, JJ, Joker Jr or Jack Jr, are here too.

- These kids are just making trouble. JJ has been in a lot of fights. It’s long since I saw him as newborn at ¨Iceberg Lounge¨. Then Harley shocked me by saying that she was pregnant again. Juno is the same as JJ. She hangs around with a just as criminal guy, Kirk Dennis. He sits next to Harley and JJ.

- Then Juno doesn’t have to sleep her way trough university. If she doesn’t get the grades she wants JJ and Kirk can threaten the professors. Or kill then, if that’s needed.

- They’re the new Killer Clowns. I knew Harley wouldn’t give up crimes. Nowadays the kids do the handy work.

- All the same, that girl is a hot spot.

Nightwing licked his lips. Barbara was disappointed. Things hadn’t turned out the way she wanted with Nightwing. Of course Juno was beautiful, but he didn’t have to stare at Joker’s and Harley Quinn’s daughter. If he stared too much it would be lethal. His fate could be in one of the torture chambers, like the guys who had stared too much at Harley had experienced. It had been Joker’s and Harley’s hobby to lure their victims into evil traps and then enjoy killing them. Their kids sure had the same hobby, even if not known yet. Hopefully Nightwing knew when to stop staring. By the way, Barbara didn’t like the private investigators anymore. Nowadays she regarded them as competitors. It was also long since she had been Batgirl and Oracle. When she started as a full-time detective she got the possibility to raise in the ranks of official crime fighters. Then she got paid for her job too. Thankfully her dad, James Gordon, had helped her with continuing her police education after getting crippled. Although her rehabilitation had meant a lot of pain, suffering, surgery and physical therapy. She wasn’t fully recovered, at would never be, but she could function better despite her handicap and her health had improved.

Juno got the highest scores. The representatives from Gotham University announced that the scholarship was hers. Juno smiled and waved to Harley, JJ and Kirk. She soon joined them outside the gymnastic hall. Kirk hugged and kissed her.

- Time to celebrate, said Harley. You’ve made daddy real proud of you. Let’s go to a coffee shop.

When they left the high school they saw Barbara and Nightwing leaving. Harley talked loud enough for Barbara to hear.

- That stupid bitch is here too! Daddy and I really made fun of her. The coppers are all stupid. That Invalid-Gordon is commissioner says it all. She’s crutching around. I just wish daddy had killed her.

Barbara pretended to ignore Harley.

- Harley is the way she’s always been.

Next day the high school yard was full of policemen. JJ, Juno and Kirk arrived together.

- What’s up, copper? asked JJ.

- A murdered girl has been found in the girl’s locker room.

- Exciting!

Indoor the girl’s locker room was cordoned. Barbara Gordon was discussing with the technicians.

- Look who’s crutching around! shouted JJ. Invalid-Gordon! Hiya, copper! How are tricks?

- Keep out. This is a murder investigation. It’s not funny. I’ll talk to the students later.

- Who’s murdered? asked Juno.

- You might have known her. She was also a gymnast. Tessa Smith. She didn’t arrive at the gymnastic competition yesterday.

- The one who was excluded. I didn’t know her much.

- Juno won the gymnastic scholarship, said JJ.

- I just wonder how she won it. It wouldn’t surprise me if you’re involved. I knew your parents, Joker and Harley Quinn.

- Coppers are best at imagining things. Daddy crippled you. He was a genius. mommy has told us the story. You tried to destroy everything for our Happy Family.

- Joker and Harley Quinn were good at destroying things themselves. They were sadistic towards their victims. Murders were jokes to them.

- It’s always enjoying with a Killing Joke. Se ya, copper!

JJ, Juno and Kirk left laughing. The new Killer Clowns had made their point.

The murder was never solved.
